ABOUT ETHAN PINCKERT
"The thing about playing percussion is that you can create all these emotions that can be sometimes beautiful, sometimes really ugly, or sometimes sweet, sometimes as big as King Kong and so on. And so there can be a real riot out there, or it can be so refined." ~ Evelyn Glennie
Ethan Pinckert celebrates art as a holistic and collaborative process by viewing the past through a unique lens, as well as working and innovating closely with the voices of the present and future.
At the core of his work, Ethan Pinckert prides himself in being an active participant in the creation and performance of new music. He has performed with the Ithaca College Contemporary Ensemble, the Ithaca College Percussion Ensemble, and Ensemble X at Cornell University. Ethan also works closely with composers in the Ithaca area and beyond. Ethan also gave several premieres of new music, including West Coast premiere of Seessa’s “The Four Loves” at New Music Gathering 2023 and a newly commissioned work soon to be premiered by Cullyn Murphy.
Ethan Pinckert also frequently engages with the creation of new music as a composer. His works have been premiered by groups including the Ithaca College Percussion Ensemble and Wysteria Winds. Ethan’s recent works frequently involve him operating between multiple disciplines, such as composer and poet for the text of works in the Travel Log series, or theatrical music such as What I’m Trying to Say Is… or …trio? (to be premiered in 2024.)
Ethan is currently a graduate student at Stony Brook University, pursuing a Masters in Music. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Performance from Ithaca College, and studied under Dr. Mike Truesdell and Conrad Alexander.
