ABOUT ETHAN PINCKERT

Ethan Pinckert’s artistic process is celebratory, holistic, and collaborative. He seeks to view the past from a new angle in close collaboration with the voices of the present and future.

Ethan is an active participant in new music. He’s appeared in performance with the Stony Brook Contemporary Chamber Players, the Ithaca College Contemporary Ensemble, and at the Akropolis Chamber Music Institute. He is also the Director of Programming for the Massachusetts Modern Music Retreat. This annual festival premiered over a dozen newly written works for its most recent season.

Ethan is also an active composer, recently celebrating the premiere of Tyndall Blue, for clarinet and glockenspiel in August 2026. His music has been performed by the Ithaca College Percussion Ensemble, and clarinetists Noemi Bender and Timothy Coffey. Ethan musically confronts the evolution of narrative and memory across time and place, frequently using the mediums of theater, visual art, and improvisation.
 

Ethan Pinckert is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Musical Arts at Stony Brook University, where he holds a Masters of Music from. He also holds a Bachelors of Music from Ithaca College. He studied under the tutelage of Dr. Eduardo Leandro, Dr. Mike Truesdell, Dr. Sally Lamb McCune, and Conrad Alexander.
